Last Friday, September 24, the HUTECH Translation and Interpretation Club (HIT) under the faculty of English language, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) opened the first seminar of the school year 2021-2022. The meeting attracted a large number of participants from the courses studying at the Faculty of English language.
The topic of this workshop is “Basic Translation Techniques 1” in the series of workshops organized online throughout the academic year. Through the workshop, the participants listened to the sharing from Do Manh Cuong, a full-time lecturer of the Faculty of English language. With many years of experience in teaching English linguistics, he has helped the participants analyze the grammatical structure of sentences correctly to understand the content of the text better and then come up with the best translation. The workshop also provided the participants with more about the basic translation concepts. In the meantime, they had the opportunity to practice translating some sentences containing relative clauses and some relating to the environment. Above all, the speaker himself shared good tips on translation techniques to help the participants better understand the text and then give quite a fine translation in the target language.
