The phrase “loved one” or “loved ones” has been used for countless times through verbal and non-verbal ways of communication. However, I have never heard such sacred words mentioned both in spoken and written forms quite like I did on the 24th, November 2016. To explain this phenomenon, I’d like to mention how this special occasion came about. It was Thursday at precisely six o’clock in the afternoon that HEC – HUTECH English Club, took place right on its twice- a- month schedule. The second club meeting of November has left a deep impression on me by its unexpected topic: “LOVE”.
This must be the most important factor to lead all of the members and the supporters of the club to several interesting conversations about love and this became the reason why the two phrases “loved one” and “loved ones” were mentioned a lot that night. The room with the capacity for over one hundred people was nearly full by the club members. This was not the most impressive thing that happened that night.
With such a big theme of topic, the room was decorated quite simple yet, beautiful. There were touching love quotes glued right on the tables which can be spot and read easily because the tables were arranged in a horseshoe form. This arrangement was for the big secret ending that the club organized. When I arrived, all was ready to get the meeting started. Some of the supporters greeted me with bright smiles and unique pink uniform which I found it quite suitable for the night’s topic – LOVE. Then, I was shown to my seat and started to dig in the handout that one of the supporter handed to me. After a quick skim I noticed that there is a ball invitation printed that made me wonder its usage since it was definitely not the usual parts. My questioning thought was about to be solved quickly at the end of the meeting. We started the club meeting by a song that we already have the lyric on the handout and soon got tune in and sang together with the supporters which created a lovely harmony of LOVE. Then we got to play a very interesting game called “Stop the bus”. The crowd went crazy and competed to answer the questions.
After that the main part of the meeting arrived – the discussion! We read the essay and got to answer the followed questions which are academically useful and fun at the same time. The ending was the grand final part of the meeting which has been a secret gift from the club that explained my doubts earlier – a play. Moreover, it was a quest! All of the supporters created and played a play without its end and asked us to set the ending of the play! This was a brand new and it was so extraordinary but it worked! All of the club members worked very hard together to use all of their ideas and vocabulary to build up the endings. This led to continuous laughing and applauses which gave to the best endings ever! The meeting was a memorable event to me. I got to hear touching speeches and enlightening ideas. Now I’ve learned to appreciate my ‘loved ones’ and had fun. I will certainly be joining all the club’s next meetings. Can’t wait!
