On January 2, the Vietnam-Korea Institute of Technology (VKIT) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) officially inaugurated the "Global Service Learning 2025" program. The program aims to foster international exchange activities with Korean universities, including Tongmyong University and Gwangju Women’s University. On this occasion, HUTECH and Gwangju Women’s University also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Representatives from Korean universities attending the event included Professor Lee Ji Eun, a lecturer in the Faculty of Welfare Management at Tongmyong University and coordinator of the Global Service Learning Program; Prof. Lim Kwi Cha, a lecturer in the Faculty of Early Childhood Education and Director of the Enterprise Cooperation Center at Gwangju Women’s University; and Prof. Kim WookJu, a lecturer in the Faculty of Physical Education and Head of the Academic Affairs at Chosun University. Representing HUTECH were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Dinh Nguyen, Vice President and Director of VKIT; Ms. Won Kwi Jeong, Vice Director; and Ms. Thai Minh Phuong, Vice Director.

During the event, Prof. Lee Ji Eun expressed her joy and extended New Year wishes to HUTECH faculty and students. She emphasized that the program provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain meaningful experiences, strengthen the relationship between HUTECH and Tongmyong University, and engage in community-focused volunteer activities.

On this occasion, the volunteer student cohort from Tongmyong University and Gwangju Women’s University donated $1,500, including scholarships and 500 gift packages, to VKIT to support charitable activities. A collaborative volunteer trip involving HUTECH, Tongmyong University, and Gwangju Women’s University took place on January 3-4, 2025, at Que Huong Humanitarian Center and Thien Duyen Shelter. Activities included singing, games, coloring, and preparing gift packages for the children.

The opening ceremony featured unique performances by Tongmyong University students, including a captivating ukulele and flute recital. Female students from Gwangju Women’s University also energized the event with a dynamic mashup dance performance that combined modern and charming choreography. These performances set an inspiring tone for the event, showcasing the creativity and talent of the students.
In the spirit of collaboration, HUTECH and Gwangju Women’s University signed an MoU, marking a significant milestone in their partnership for sustainable educational development. Prof. Lim Kwi Cha expressed her gratitude and optimism, emphasizing her hope for both institutions to implement meaningful cooperative projects to enhance educational quality and enrich student learning experiences.
