On December 27, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) welcomed a delegation from Tongmyong University (South Korea) to discuss and formalize agreements for collaboration in education and training. This meeting marked a significant milestone in the growing partnership between the two universities.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Kieu Xuan Hung, Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors, warmly welcomed the Tongmyong University delegation. He acknowledged Tongmyong as a key strategic partner for HUTECH in South Korea and congratulated the university on its recent 5-star rating in the QS Stars ranking. “HUTECH is committed to deepening its partnership with Tongmyong to achieve shared success in education and research,” Dr. Kieu Xuan Hung emphasized.

Dr. Chun Ho Wan, President of Tongmyong University, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from HUTECH and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing collaborative initiatives discussed in previous meetings. He stressed the importance of international partnerships in education, research, and joint program development, particularly in high-demand areas such as beauty care and logistics.

Highlighting Tongmyong’s expertise in beauty care technology, Prof. Kim Seo In, Head of the Department of Hair Design & Beauty Care, proposed a collaborative program in beauty care between the two institutions. The program will offer a four-year degree option alongside short-term certificate courses, with Tongmyong faculty serving as key advisors and instructors at HUTECH. Graduates would receive certifications from Tongmyong University.

HUTECH representatives pledged to carefully review curriculum requirements, facilities, and laboratory resources to ensure the program’s quality. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in beauty care in Vietnam while elevating workforce standards in the industry.

Additionally, the two universities reached an agreement to launch joint programs in Logistics and Korean Language. Students will complete these programs entirely at HUTECH and receive degrees awarded by Tongmyong University. To formalize this, an MOA (Memorandum of Agreement) was signed, setting the stage for specific cooperative activities that promise long-term benefits for both institutions.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaching a strong consensus on pursuing diverse areas of cooperation. Dr. Chun Ho Wan extended an invitation to Dr. Kieu Xuan Hung to attend the International Conference at Tongmyong University in November 2025, providing a platform for further discussions on global education strategies.
