On November 27, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and the British Council engaged in in-depth discussions on educational cooperation, paving new pathways for international learning and student exchange.

HUTECH hosted a meeting with the British Council at Saigon Campus
At the start of the meeting, Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, presented an overview of HUTECH and its educational system. She highlighted two major projects supported by the British Council: Transnational Education (TNE) and Gender Equality. She underscored the significance of enhancing international collaboration and expressed optimism that the British Council could act as a bridge, facilitating HUTECH’s access to resources, expertise, and cutting-edge educational technologies from universities in the United Kingdom.

Mr. James Shipton, Director of the British Council in Vietnam, praised the practicality and real-world relevance of the TNE programs offered by UK universities. He noted that these educational models not only deliver knowledge but also equip students with vital skills for success in their careers and personal lives. Additionally, he expressed keen interest in the seminars and workshops hosted by HUTECH as part of the TNE program and committed to exploring and proposing appropriate support initiatives.

Dr. Ly Thien Trang openly discussed the challenges of implementing the TNE program at HUTECH and other universities in Vietnam. She highlighted that the traditional Vietnamese education system still struggles with limitations in practicality and flexibility, presenting notable contrasts to modern educational models from the UK. Furthermore, the processes and policies for managing international partnership programs require additional time for development and refinement.
A key moment of the meeting was the announcement of HUTECH's official membership in the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), initiated by the United Nations. As the ninth university in Vietnam to join the network, HUTECH is dedicated to advancing green initiatives and fostering sustainable development. To support this mission, HUTECH will host the GSETS 2025 (Green Sustainable Technology Solutions) International Conference, which will focus on innovative green and sustainable technology solutions. The event is anticipated to draw international experts and researchers, offering students valuable opportunities to engage with cutting-edge knowledge and ideas in this vital field.

HUTECH representative hoped to identify more potential international projects from their partners
During the meeting, Dr. Hoang Ngoc Nhung, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, proposed that the British Council support projects in pivotal areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), leadership skills, and innovation. She highlighted the significant potential of these fields in shaping sustainable development for the younger generation. Ms. Phan Thi Bao Phi, Education Program Manager at the British Council, introduced the ISPF (International Scholarship Program Framework), which offers young researchers in Vietnam opportunities to engage in international learning environments. The program focuses on critical research topics, including the environment, health, transformative technologies, and human resource development.
