HUTECH lecturer ranks among top 1% of global scientists, inspiring passion for scientific research

Dr. Phung Van Phuc has been honored as one of the top 1% of leading global scientists in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering for three consecutive years. As a lecturer in the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), he has achieved numerous prestigious research milestones nationally and internationally. Dr. Phuc continues to inspire and nurture a passion for scientific research among the younger generation.
Dr. Phung Van Phuc has consistently built upon his remarkable achievements, earning the prestigious "Best Rising Stars of Science in the World" title for three consecutive years. He has also been recognized as one of the top 100,000 most influential scientists globally for five consecutive years. With over 70 scholarly papers published in internationally recognized ISI-indexed journals, Dr. Phuc has made significant contributions to research in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and related fields.

Originally trained as an engineer, Dr. Phuc, feeling unsuited to a rigid working environment, transitioned to academia following the advice of a respected mentor. Reflecting on his career shift, he shared, "The deeper I delve into research and teaching, the more I truly enjoy it and feel committed to pursuing it further."

Recognizing that he was fortunate to receive it early, he understands its true value and wants to guide and pass it on to the younger generation. He emphasizes that without passion, it's very difficult to go far in scientific research. Success is only a small part; the most important aspects are the joy and enthusiasm—such as solving difficult problems, getting a paper accepted after a long review process, and the effort invested to achieve the final results.

"I enjoy sharing knowledge with others, guiding them to grow and even accomplish things I couldn't—that's my true success." For Dr. Phuc, working late into the night was a normal part of his scientific research journey. Yet, he finds immense pride not only in his own growth but also in witnessing his students' success.
Dr. Phuc shared that his greatest happiness comes from inspiring passion and enthusiasm for research in his master’s and doctoral students. "Hearing from them about earning international scholarships fills me with indescribable joy," he said.

"I strive to pass on my knowledge to students, encouraging them to embrace innovation and stay aligned with global trends. Sharing inspires me to keep researching and learning, ensuring I can continue to grow and give back. In a rapidly evolving world, staying engaged in research is essential to avoid falling behind," Dr. Phuc explained.
