On November 19, the Department of International Relations and Project Management at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) met with the Hungarian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City and Corvinus University of Budapest to discuss potential partnerships in joint educational programs, as well as student and faculty exchanges between the two universities.

The meeting began with Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH, expressing a strong desire to expand collaboration among the parties. She introduced HUTECH’s international-standard programs, highlighted the university's research capabilities, and proposed initiatives for academic cooperation, student exchanges, and master’s degree programs. Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, also provided an overview of the HUTECH Education system, its history, and its international academic programs.

Representing the Hungarian Consulate, Consul General Gábor Lehőcz proudly shared that Hungary is a global leader in applying AI across various fields, opening new opportunities for international collaboration, including with Vietnam. He announced that the Hungarian government will offer 200 fully-funded Stipendium Hungaricum scholarships for Vietnamese citizens to pursue undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and specialized training programs in Hungary. Highlighting the importance of partnership with HUTECH, he emphasized priority opportunities for HUTECH students to receive these scholarships, offering them a high-quality learning experience in Hungary.
The Consul-General also discussed research funding opportunities for HUTECH under the Horizon Europe program, which focuses on academic exchange, cultural cooperation, and sustainable development between Vietnam and European nations. This initiative aims to give HUTECH students access to advanced research in areas such as water management, circular economy, and bioeconomy.

Additionally, the Consul-General introduced Corvinus University of Budapest, a leading institution in business education. Dr. Akos Varga, Head of Executive and Postgraduate Programs at Corvinus, outlined the university’s diverse academic offerings and its international faculty. He stressed the importance of student and faculty exchange programs as a cornerstone for future collaboration between the two universities.

Both sides explored potential joint projects, including the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s program. Selected HUTECH students would have the opportunity to receive scholarships from the European Commission to conduct research, study, and intern in Europe. Discussions also touched on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on gender equality and sustainable education development. These collaborations would provide HUTECH students with cutting-edge knowledge and a global perspective, equipping them to thrive as global citizens.

For master’s and doctoral programs, representatives from HUTECH, the Hungarian Consulate, and Corvinus University of Budapest engaged in in-depth discussions about curriculum structure, timelines, and research collaborations.
