To develop student exchange programs and strengthen educational collaboration, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) hosted a meeting with Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), one of Malaysia’s top universities, on the morning of October 4.
The meeting focused on expanding student exchange programs and exploring other joint educational initiatives
During the meeting, both sides focused on discussing ways to collaborate in improving educational quality and coordinating training programs. Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management at HUTECH, highlighted the key objectives of the meeting, stressing earlier discussions about the joint program between the two institutions.

Prof. Hilmi Mukhtar, Vice President of UTP, provided an overview of UTP’s strategic direction, focusing on student mobility programs and plans to launch graduate programs in Vietnam.

Both parties held detailed discussions on plans for the joint program, PhD scholarships for staff, and a study tour for students in the upcoming academic year. UTP representatives also proposed signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with HUTECH. By the end of the meeting, both sides agreed on the joint program and are moving forward with the MoA signing, which is expected to bring significant benefits and new opportunities for students from both universities.

In addition to Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong and Prof. Hilmi Mukhtar, the meeting was attended by Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President of HUTECH; Mr. Mohd Faizal Bin Bidin, Senior Executive Director of Business Development and Academic Planning at UTP; and Mr. Ali Johnari Bin Mohd Sharazlee, Head of Admissions at UTP.
