On the 21st of October, Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HUTECH) successfully organized the Hangeul Festival at its Thu Duc Campus. This event brought together over 20 institutions, including universities and colleges specializing in Korean Studies and the Korean Language in the southern region of Vietnam. The occasion also saw participation from various government bodies, universities, agencies, and Korean-sponsored businesses.
This annual festival, sponsored by the Korea Foundation (KF) and its affiliated organizations, is a collaborative effort of institutions and training centers involved in Korean language and cultural studies in the southern region of Vietnam. It coincided with the anniversary of the Korean alphabet Hangeul's creation (October 9th). The festival served as an academic platform for students of the Korean language and culture, fostering cultural exchange and furthering the friendship between Vietnam and Korea.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Shin Choong I1, the Consul General of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his gratitude for the Vietnamese youth's interest in Korean culture, the Korean people, and the country. He extended his appreciation to HUTECH and all the participating units that contributed to the festival's success.
Assoc. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman of HUTECH's School Council, conveyed a message to the students, emphasizing the power of Hangeul as a tool to shape the future. He encouraged students to discover their inner strength through language learning and immersion in Korean culture. He expressed his belief that students could become talented individuals who would promote Korean culture worldwide, especially in the context of digital culture integration and development.
The Hangeul Festival is not only a platform for students to explore Korean culture but also a means to strengthen collaborative ties between HUTECH and educational institutions and partners, both in Korea and Vietnam.
The Hangeul Festival 2023 saw the participation of guest representatives from Korean government agencies, organizations, and sponsoring businesses from both Vietnam and Korea. HUTECH was represented at the event by its chairman of the school council, vice principal, deputy chief of the school office, as well as lecturers and students from various faculties.
