On April 11th, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Director of CIRTech Institute, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), member of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Computational Mechanics, gave a presentation.I He delivered the public lecture entitled, "Data-Based 3D Printing Technology - Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration", which communicated much interesting scientific knowledge.
The sharing session was organized by the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) and the Scientists Club of Hanoi National University (VSL), and took place at Laurent Schwartz Hall, Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (157)—with an online format via Zoom, attracting a large number of interested scientists, teachers, Drs. and students.
The sharing session on 3D printing technology attracted the attention of a large number of academics.
At the program, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung said the 4th revolution has been opening a new era for the printing industry, turning the boundary between traditional printing technology to digital printing. Today's most prominent development is 3D printing technology, with many advantages over conventional methods, such as manufacturing human body parts, military weapons, and robots. On January 5, 2021, Vietnam also applied 3D printing in a case of orthopedic trauma, using 3D-printed titanium alloy honeycomb grafts to replace the patient's cancerous bone.
3D printing technology has brought many practical benefits to many fields
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung shared that people often think that Mathematics is dry and needs to be visualized with the eyes. Furthermore he added that it is undeniable that mathematics brings enduring value for applications to change the destiny of the world. 3D printing technology is an example of that fact, formed from those numbers and mathematical principles.
Behind the success of this versatile technology are mathematical principles
In addition, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung also reported on the history of 3D printing development , mentioning its long history, as the technology has been emerging since the late 1980s and has continued to develop strongly until today. He explained, “an essential part of STEM is 3D printing technology. The 3D printed models will tell us the formulas, where the mathematical principles need to be applied, which equations will produce which patterns, requiring the understanding of the nature and the role of learning systems of equations, plane geometry, and spatial geometry”
3D printing technology has been getting more and more advanced over time and continues to evolve
During the course of the two hour lecture on the topic of 3D printing technology , Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung helped listeners increase their knowledge and their fascination with numbers. The lecture program also opened up additional opportunities to promote the 3D printing industry in the future.
Lecture of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung helped listeners understand more about 3D printing technology.
It should be noted that Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung received his Ph.D. in Computational Mechanics from the University of Liège (Belgium) in 2008. Most of his research focuses on advanced computational methods in engineering and machine learning models based on machine learning on data and 3D printing technology. Two of the prestigious and well-recognized awards he has won include The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Digital Cooperation Fellowship (2021) and The Outstanding Humboldtian (2019). He also holds the distinction of being in the top 1% of the world's most cited scientists for many years in a row.
