In light of the complicated development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the profound impact on all aspects of society has been severe. Amidst the confusion and anxiety, there is a growing spirit of national solidarity, togetherness, and supporting each other. Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) has made meaningful and practical contributions towards supporting the nationwide efforts in fighting against the pandemic.

Disinfecting and educating disease prevention measures at HUTECH

From the early days of the outbreak, HUTECH has actively implemented synchronous measures for epidemic prevention and control as recommended by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Training, including disinfecting the campus, classrooms and offices; ventilating, sanitizing surfaces; educating disease prevention measures to all university employees and students through various campus information channels. The university has also deployed the method of gathering medical declaration information from staff, lecturers and employees, and arranged personnel to take body temperatures of all people entering HUTECH campuses.

HUTECH also has timely response actions to support the country’s effort to fight against the pandemic. Some noticeable activities that deserve to be mentioned were the University’s donation of 1,200 and 600 antibacterial cloth masks to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training and the Department of Education and Training of Tien Giang province, respectively. All these antibacterial cloth masks were self-produced by HUTECH faculty, staff and students with the support of sponsors.

Faculty of Architecture and Arts produces and donates more than 5,000 antibacterial cloth masks to HUTECH staff and students

 
Several departments within the university also produced hand sanitizers to ensuring the safety and hygiene of all university employees and visitors. Specifically, the Faculty of Pharmacy in collaboration with CM Thi Lab produced hand sanitizers; the Faculty of Pharmacy donated 50 boxes of medical masks to the university; the Faculty of Architecture and Arts produced more than 5,000 antibacterial cloth masks for faculty, staff, and students, etc.

Earlier, HUTECH issued an announcement asking students to stay home until May 3, 2020 as the university continued to monitor the evolving pandemic situation. Students have also been provided with course materials to continue to study on their own according to the spirit promoted by the Ministry of Education and Training of sustaining study progress during the temporary closure of schools and university campuses. Accordingly, HUTECH has also made appropriate adjustments to the working conditions to avoid large gatherings as recommended by the Ministry of Health.

All HUTECH students are temporarily away from the university campus until the 3rd of May

Up to date, the pandemic has been successfully controlled thanks to the Vietnamese central and local governments’ prompt and proactive responses coupled with the consensus of the residents in complying with the government recommendations and regulations.
