HUTECH signs MOU with National Geographic Learning - Cengage

On November 27, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) held a signing ceremony to formalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with National Geographic Learning (NGL) - Cengage (USA). This partnership aims to advance the university's academic excellence through strengthened international collaboration in education and research.
During the signing ceremony, HUTECH and NGL - Cengage conducted in-depth discussions on key issues and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting and implementing joint initiatives in education. The collaboration encompasses the provision of high-quality teaching and learning materials, the organization of professional development programs, specialized workshops, and seminars focused on pedagogical methodologies for faculty enhancement. Additionally, both institutions will work together on academic publishing projects and the development of international academic programs that align with global educational standards.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam – HUTECH’s Vice Chairman, outlined the university's strategic direction for enhancing English proficiency, particularly in international programs and faculty training. He emphasized the importance of adopting modern teaching methodologies aligned with global trends and expressed his expectation for NGL-Cengage's support in improving the quality of education at HUTECH.

The NGL - Cengage representative shared their vision for sustainable education development, highlighting initiatives like "Green Education," which integrates teaching with environmental protection and aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, NGL - Cengage is actively collaborating with UNESCO to advance global and sustainable educational values.

As part of the collaboration, both parties have outlined several key initiatives to enhance teaching quality and cultivate a dynamic learning environment. HUTECH will partner with NGL - Cengage to provide faculty training, focusing on improving English teaching skills through NGL's innovative Voices curriculum, which combines language development, critical thinking, and global awareness. Furthermore, the two institutions will collaborate on developing a test bank and an online learning platform, offering students enhanced opportunities for learning and quality assessment.

Beyond academic pursuits, both parties are committed to strengthening student engagement through cultural exchange events, extracurricular activities, and international programs. Additionally, HUTECH and NGL - Cengage will collaborate on research initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, fostering the integration of innovative and practical concepts into education and learning practices.

The working session was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman; Dr. Ly Thien Trang, Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Chi Thang, Director of the Institute of International Education; Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management; and Mr. Vo Quoc Dai, Vice Dean of the Faculty of English Language. From NGL-Cengage, the representatives included Mr. Michael Cahill, Senior Director of ELT Asia; Mr. Luong Duy Anh, Country Manager at National Geographic Learning Vietnam; and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hieu, Account Manager at Cengage Learning Vietnam.
