The meeting between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) and the Handwerkskammer Erfurt (Germany) on November 13 fostered extensive discussions on academic cooperation and student exchange in the field of engineering. This marked a significant step in internationalizing HUTECH’s educational programs, opening doors for students to study and work in Europe.

Introducing HUTECH, Dr. Ly Thien Trang - Vice President, emphasized that HUTECH is one of the leading universities in Ho Chi Minh City with a large-scale operation, consisting of four campuses and approximately 40,000 students, half of whom are enrolled in engineering programs.

Following this, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Project Management, introduced HUTECH's ongoing international cooperation programs, expressing HUTECH’s desire to diversify its exchange partnerships, particularly with European countries.

Sharing about the HWK Erfurt, Mr. Thomas Malcherek, Executive Director, explained that HWK Erfurt is a reputable organization specializing in vocational training in automotive technology, welding, refrigeration, mechanical engineering, and renewable energy. HWK Erfurt offers both short-term and long-term training programs with specific German language proficiency and tuition requirements. Additionally, Ms. Magdalena Szypa, Head of Education Policy & Recruitment at HWK Erfurt, provided information about their international vocational education and training (VET) cooperation programs. These include summer camps lasting 3 to 6 weeks in Germany, 1- to 2-year training programs in both Vietnam and Germany, and the 3+1 program (three years of study in Vietnam and one year in Germany).

Programs such as the 3+1 training model and international technical summer camps were deliberated, with efforts to tailor these initiatives to suit HUTECH students, particularly in terms of internship timelines and development pathways.
