Students from the Faculty of Information Technology (IT) at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) have proudly achieved three awards at the 33rd Vietnam National Student Olympiad in Informatics, reaffirming the university's position as a leader in IT education.
The event, held from December 10–13 in Hanoi, featured the 33rd Vietnam Student Olympiad in Informatics (OLP’24), PROCON, and the ICPC Asia Hanoi 2024 International Collegiate Programming Contest. It attracted 87 universities, colleges, and academies nationwide. Participants included 108 students in the Super Cup category, 235 in the Specialized Informatics category, 95 in the Non-Specialized Informatics category, 2 in the College category, 18 teams with 51 students in the Open Source Software category, and 20 teams with 43 students competing in PROCON Vietnam.

Participating in the competition, IT students from HUTECH achieved remarkable results, including one Third Prize and one Consolation Prize in the Specialized Informatics category and one Third Prize in the Open Source Software category. Notably, HUTECH’s IT Faculty was among just two institutions to receive a Certificate of Merit for outstanding achievements in IT human resources training, awarded by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.
These achievements are a testament to the dedication and determination of HUTECH’s IT faculty and students in their mission to elevate the university's stature in delivering high-quality human resources to meet the evolving demands of the modern technological era.

During the closing ceremony, HUTECH representatives officially received the flag to host the 34th Vietnam National Student Olympiad in Informatics, PROCON VIETNAM, and the ICPC Asia Ho Chi Minh City 2025 competition. This upcoming event is expected to draw nearly 1,000 students from nearly 100 universities and colleges, as well as specialized high schools across 63 provinces in Vietnam and international participants. Spanning four days, the competition will be held entirely at HUTECH’s campuses, promising an exciting academic arena for young tech talents.
