The current state of the global economy from the perspective of an experienced economist from Erasmus University Rotterdam

On June 7, the Faculty of Management Information Systems of Ho Chi Minh University of Technology (HUTECH) in collaboration with CIRTECH Institute, HUTECH Institute of International Education, Vietis Information System Joint Stock Company, and other project partners organized the Seminar titled “The Current state and future directions of the Global and Vietnamese Economies.”

At the seminar, Dr. Howard Nicholas covered two main topics in his lecture, including the current state and future directions of the global and Vietnamese economy. HUTECH alumni and current students majoring in Economics, Finance, Network Systems, and Technology were among the participants of the program

In terms of the future predictions of the global economy, Dr. Nicholas explained the short-and long-term economic growth trends, as well as four key asset groups, namely stocks, bonds, essential commodities and currencies. At the same time, he shared about the global economy around structural shifts, cycles, key bottlenecks and possibilities of future growth. By giving particular examples, showing the growth and development levels of some developed countries in the world, the speaker generalized the importance of applying economic trends for business purposes and making the right investment decisions.

Turning to the Vietnamese economy, Dr. Howard Nicholas mainly introduced certain main factors of macroeconomics such as economic growth, inflation, financial system, the balance of payments and exchange rate. The expert expected that these insights and knowledge would become a solid foundation for assessing the short-and long-term direction of the Vietnamese economy in the future, thereby supporting investment decisions.
